Two COM Elite Athletes to Compete in the Asian Games 2026

18 Sep 2026 (Fri)

The 20th Asian Games 2026 will kick off in Nagoya tomorrow, and the Department of Media and Communication (COM) at City University of Hong Kong (CityUHK) is proud to announce that two of our undergraduate students will represent Team Hong Kong, China, in this prestigious continental multi-sport event held every four years.

The selected students include Chelsie Lam, a newly admitted bachelor's student who specializes in women's breaststroke events for the HK Swimming Team. She will compete in both the women's 100m and 200m breaststroke events. "This is my first time competing in a multi-sport event, and I'm eager to meet other elite athletes. I hope to enjoy the games and perform well."

Additionally, Lau Yee Ching, a BATVB student representing the HK Fencing Team, is set to compete in the women's team sabre event. "After the World Championship in July, our team realized we have what it takes to compete with teams worldwide. We will fight hard to reach the top of the podium."

Lam and Lau both joined COM through the Student-Athlete Learning Support and Admission (SALSA) Scheme, which provides essential support for balancing sports achievements with academic success.
