From May 14 to 18, 2026, the Department of Media and Communication (COM) at City University of Hong Kong organized the South Korea Study Tour for master’s students. A total of 31 participants from the MACNM and MAIMC programs took part in this five-day trip, gaining an immersive experience of South Korea’s renowned popular culture and its advanced academic environment in Northeast Asia.

During the tour, students visited the Department of Media and Communication at Yonsei University, which is ranked among the top 50 institutions in the latest QS University Rankings. They engaged with esteemed scholars and participated in a guided campus tour. Furthermore, the COM arranged a remarkable visit to the Korean Broadcasting Station (KBS), South Korea’s national broadcaster. This provided participants with a firsthand opportunity to observe newsroom operations and broadcasting studio workflows, thereby enriching their understanding of the daily practices within the Korean media industry.

Beyond the focus on media, the study tour included visits to significant cultural landmarks such as Gwanghwamun Square, Changdeokgung Palace, and The National Museum of Korea. These excursions offered students insights into one of Northeast Asia’s most successful nations, helping them expand their perspectives and aspirations within the fields of media and communication.
