The Department of Media and Communication (COM) at City University of Hong Kong (CityUHK) is proud to announce that a research team comprising Dr. Bao Huanyu (Postdoctoral Fellow), Ms. Wang Dandan (PhD Student), Mr. Adilkhan Orakbay (Research Staff), and Project Advisor Professor Edmund Lee (Associate Professor of COM) has been awarded the prestigious HK Tech 300 Seed Fund. This recognition provides funding of up to HKD$100,000 to support their innovative AI-Powered Gamified Rehabilitation System.
TigerLeap aims to bring rehabilitation from hospital to home by enabling patients to perform rehabilitation exercises through interactive games using sensor-equipped gloves. An integrated AI system provides real-time feedback and personalised recommendations to guide patients through their recovery, while offering clinicians a data-driven evaluation tool to monitor patient progress.
This award reflects the team's commitment to leveraging technology for real-world impact in digital health, and highlights COM's growing strength in innovative, interdisciplinary research with entrepreneurial potential.
HK Tech 300, City University of Hong Kong's flagship innovation and entrepreneurship program, embraces its vision of "Venture Beyond Boundaries." It provides a platform for students, researchers, and alumni to transform research ideas into scalable technology startups.
Congratulations!
