30 Mar 2026 (Mon)
On 20 March 2026, the Department of Media and Communication (COM) at City University of Hong Kong (CityUHK) launched its new initiative, the ‘Media Leadership & Innovation Lecture Series – COM with Me.’ The inaugural lecture featured Adjunct Professor Shirley Chong, Visiting Fellow at Lucy Cavendish College, University of Cambridge, and Director of the Communications and Institutional Research Office at CityUHK.
A seasoned expert in university public relations and marketing, Professor Chong shared her invaluable insights into strengthening the global credibility and reputation of academic institutions. She emphasized that a university’s ranking and reputation cannot simply be purchased, but must be earned through excellence in teaching, robust program curriculums, and impactful research. Professor Chong also highlighted five critical pillars for public relations professionals to build institutional trust: transparency, consistency, integrity, responsiveness, and meaningful influence.
Following the lecture, a dynamic roundtable discussion was held. Professor Yi-Hui Christine Huang, Head and Chair Professor of COM, joined Professor Chong to engage with the audience. The session concluded with an engaging Q&A segment, where students raised thought-provoking questions that enriched the dialogue.
