Visit by Prof John Downey from Loughborough University

On 18 March 2026, Professor John Downey, Associate Pro-Vice Chancellor of Loughborough University, visited the Department of Media and Communication (COM) at City University of Hong Kong.







The visit began with an academic meeting hosted by COM faculty members to discuss collaborative opportunities between the two institutions. Key topics included undergraduate and postgraduate exchange programs as well as potential joint research initiatives. Representing the Department of Media and Communication were Professor Yi-Hui Christine Huang, Head and Chair Professor; Professor Chris Shen, Associate Head and Professor; and Chair Professor Shuhua Zhou.





Following the meeting, Professor Downey was given a guided tour of the COM facilities. The tour introduced the department's state-of-the-art resources, including the Omnimedia Digital Newsroom, the 3D Virtual TV Studio, the Advertising Design & Shooting Studio, and the Digital Broadcasting Recording Room.
