On March 9, 2026, the Department of Media and Communication at City University of Hong Kong hosted the "Young Scholars Research Seminar”, welcoming six emerging researchers from leading universities in mainland China to present their cutting-edge research.
Professor Shuang Chen, an Associate Professor of School of Journalism and Communication at Tsinghua University, opened the session with a presentation titled "
The Influence Mechanism of Augmented Reality Technology on Cultural Exchange: An Empirical Study Based on Subjective Well-Being". Her research empirically examines how the affordances of AR cultural exhibition design influence on subjective well-being, emphasizing the transformative power of AR technology in promoting individual well-being and enriching cultural experiences.
Associate Professor Hongjiang Li, School of Television at Communication University of China delivered his talk, "
From Mediation to Communication: Understanding Journalism through Phenomenological Approach." He employs Heidegger's ontological philosophy as a methodological foundation to
analyze the relationship between journalism, Dasein , and the world, enriching the research paradigms within journalism studies.
Professor Juai Pang, Associate Professor of School of Humanities and Communication at Ningbo University delivered her talk on “
Parallel World Model for Ningbo Luocheng Ancient City,” showcasing how new quality productive forces can construct a perpetual virtual-real symbiotic cultural-tourism ecosystem. pioneering project of Luocheng Cultural Tourism Intelligent Brain enables the redefining heritage preservation and public engagement.
Mr Kairong Shu, Lecturer of the School of Journalism at Renmin University. He shared his presentation, "
Algorithm Collaboration: The Localization of Platform Labor", challenges the path dependency on the "technology-control" paradigm in contemporary platform labor research and emphasized the importance of organizational perspectives in platform labor studies by employing the concepts of embeddedness and routinization.
Professor Xin Ssun, Associate Professor of the School of Journalism and Communication at Xinjiang University presented his research on the strategic communication of regional narratives in "
Research on the Mechanism and Pathways of New Quality Productive Forces Empowering Cultural Heritage in Xinjiang Storytelling".
Miss Ye Xu, Lecturer of the School of Media at Guizhou University) delivered her talk entitled "
Game as Communication: Reconsidering the Game Dimension of International Communication", in which she highlighted the value of games as "international communication media" and called for an exploration of strategies for promoting international communication through game globalization.
The seminar was marked by lively and intellectually stimulating engagement. Faculty members and doctoral students from the Department of Media and Communication posed incisive questions and offered constructive feedback, engaging the speakers in dialogue regarding their methodological approaches, theoretical contributions, and the broader implications of their research for the communication discipline.
