COM faculty members and students will present 46 papers at ICA 2026

The Department of Media and Communication (COM) at City University of Hong Kong (CityUHK) is proud to announce its outstanding representation at the
76th Annual Conference of the International Communication Association (ICA 2026), to be held in
Cape Town, South Africa, from June 4 to June 8, 2026. This year,
46 research papers from the department have been accepted for presentation —
the highest number in the department’s history.
Notably,
30 of these papers are student-led, reflecting the department’s strong commitment to research-led teaching and mentorship. Our work will be showcased across
17 ICA divisions, with particularly strong representation in
Political Communication (7 papers), Communication & Technology (6), Health Communication (6), Journalism Studies (5), Human–Machine Communication (4), Information Systems (3), and Public Relations (3), among others. Together, these contributions underscore the department’s wide-ranging expertise and intellectual depth.
This achievement highlights the collective efforts of our faculty and students in advancing innovative, high-quality scholarship in media and communication research.
