11 Nov 2025 (Tue)

On November 3, 2025, Professor Angela Yung Chi HOU, Professor of Higher Education at College of Education, National Chengchi University, Taiwan, delivered a seminar titled “Sustainability and University Governance in Asia and Taiwan- How Do Global Rankings and Quality Assurance Measure Universitys SDGs?” Prof. HOU ranks among the top three researchers worldwide in higher education quality assurance, according to Scopus, and has dedicated over 15 years to quality assurance practices and international research.

The seminar introduced two leading sustainability-focused global rankings—Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Rankings and QS Sustainability Rankings—both of which employ innovative methodological frameworks to evaluate universities’ alignment with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Prof. HOU analyzed how Taiwanese universities, particularly those featured in these rankings, are responding to the evolving sustainability agenda, while highlighting key challenges in embedding these metrics into institutional strategies and operations.

The event brought together faculty members, doctoral students, and scholars, creating a vibrant and engaging atmosphere for intellectual exchange.
