On 25 September 2025, Professor THENG delivered a seminar entitled “
Research Meets Innovation: Integrating Gerontechnology into Ageing Practices” . Professor THENG is President's Chair in Information Studies, and Professor at the Wee Kim Wee School of Communication and Information, Nanyang Technological University(NTU, Singapore). She is the Executive Director of the Ageing Research Institute for Society and Education (ARISE).In the area of research.Dr, THENG 's philosophy is about doing scientifically-based experimental Human-Computer Interaction in understanding users and their interactions especially for Information Systems, in her earlier research on the World Wide Web and Digital Libraries, and with recent focus on interactive systems/devices for the Elderly Healthcare, Education and Training.
This seminar shared research conducted at Nanyang Technological University(NTU), focusing on two initiatives that have progressed to implementation. The seminar presented the key findings, strategies, outcomes and lessons learned from these projects, emphasising how technology can address the challenges associated with an ageing population.
Over 20 doctoral students, faculty members and scholars attended the seminar, engaging in active and meaningful discussions. Professor THENG addressed questions from the audience and shared insights regarding her research focus and scientific experience, thereby fostering a highly dynamic and intellectually stimulating atmosphere throughout the event.
