Some CityU students worked as volunteers at the 2008 Olympic equestrian events in Hong Kong. Some performed duties as ceremony hostesses, sharing with athletes the joys of their success, and one of them served international royal family dignatories.

Competing in Malaysia, CityU's Rowing Club was crowned Men's division coxless four champion and was runner-up in the Women's division, demonstrating the excellent sporting capabilities of CityU students.

To welcome new students, CityU held an orientation sculpture display ceremony on 19 August. Memorabilia items donated by CityU members were encased in colourful wax and incorporated into a large sculpture. It will become a permanent exhibit on campus.

CityU received the delegates of Shenzhen-Hong Kong Innovation Circle on 14 August. Discussions between CityU representatives and the delegates focused on cooperation between CityU and Shenzhen.
