Xinjiang Agricultural University Visits CityUHK to strengthen academic exchange, joint research and talent training partnerships

A senior delegation from Xinjiang Agricultural University (XJAU) visited City University of Hong Kong (CityUHK). Led by Professor Xie Shuqing, Party Secretary of XJAU, the delegation was warmly received by Professor Wen Jung Li, Vice-President (Talent and International Strategy), Professor Vanessa BARRS, Dean of Jockey Club College of Veterinary Medicine and Life Sciences (JCC) and Professor Guo Zaiping, Chair Professor of Energy Materials.


During the visit, both sides explored potential areas of collaboration, including postgraduate joint training and academic staff exchange, laying a solid foundation for long-term partnership in academic exchange, joint research, and talent development between CityUHK and XJAU.


The delegation also toured CityUHK’s farm in Tai Po and visited the Hong Kong Institute for Clean Energy, where they were introduced to the University’s latest research developments by Professor Alex Jen, Lee Shau Kee Chair Professor (Materials Science).

CityUHK strengthens Central Asia partnerships: Vice-Ministerial engagement and MoU with Uzbekistan’s premier technical University

A high-level university delegation led by Professor the Honourable Michael Ngai, Council Chairman of City University of Hong Kong (CityUHK) met with Mr Salomov Uktam Rahimovich, Deputy Minister of Higher Education, Science and Innovation of the Republic of Uzbekistan.


CityUHK signed an MoU with Tashkent State Technical University (TSTU), a leading institution in Uzbekistan, initiating research collaboration and a joint talent development programme. The MoU was signed by Professor Wen Jung Li, Vice-President (Talent and International Strategy) of CityUHK, and Professor Donayev Sardor Burkhanovich, Vice-Rector (Scientific Affairs and Innovations) of TSTU. It was witnessed by Professor Ngai and Dr Azimov Shavkat Shukhratovich, Vice-Rector for International Relations and Transformations at TSTU.


Aligned with the Central Asia visit led by Mr John Lee, Chief Executive of the HKSAR, the CityUHK delegation also joined the official banquet co-organised by the HKSAR Government and the Hong Kong Trade Development Council to celebrate bilateral MoU signing.

CityUHK Council Chairman leads delegation to strengthen collaboration in Kazakhstan, signing MoUs and holding high-level ministerial meetings

Professor the Honourable Michael Ngai, Council Chairman of City University of Hong Kong (CityUHK), led a high-level delegation to Kazakhstan, where the University signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Joint Stock Company Center for International Programs (CIP) under the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan, marking the official establishment of a strategic partnership between the two parties. The MoU was signed by Professor Wen Jung Li, Vice-President (Talent and International Strategy) of CityUHK and Mr Abay Rakhmet, Acting Chairman of the Board, on behalf of the CIP, and witnessed by Professor Ngai and Mr Kaisar Yerkinbayev, Deputy Chairman of the Board of CIP.


The delegation also signed a MoU with Satbayev University (SU) to jointly explore and develop executive education programmes. The MoU was signed by Professor Li and Mr Sapar Shalabayev, Vice-Rector of SU, and was witnessed by Professor Ngai, Mr Rakhmet, and Professor Meiram Begentayev, Rector of SU.


Continued the visit to Kazakhstan with important meetings with Ms Kobenova Gulzat Izbasarovna, Vice-Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and Mr Bakhtiyar Mukhametkaliyev, Vice-Minister of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Development of Kazakhstan. These exchanges focused on the synergy between artificial intelligence, digital development, and higher education.
