Advancing Belt and Road Collaboration and Sharing AI Insights for a Sustainable Future at ICASF 2025
Professor Wen Jung Li, CityUHK’s Vice-President (Talent and International Strategy), signed an MoU with Professor Ghassan Aouad, Chancellor of Abu Dhabi University (ADU), at the 3rd International Conference on Advancing Sustainable Futures (ICASF 2025), hosted by ADU in the UAE on 10–11 December 2025. The agreement establishes a broad framework for academic collaboration, including faculty/staff exchanges, student mobility, and joint research, workshops, and seminars—advancing shared commitments to the UN SDGs..
Ranked among the UAE’s top three universities, ADU is a regional leader in sustainability. At ICASF’s Forum on “Artificial Intelligence and Society,” Professor Li discussed how AI and robotics can reduce environmental impact while supporting growth, and the skills youth need for an AI-powered sustainable economy. He emphasized research-driven, ethical AI to address global challenges and unlock evidence-based, scalable solutions for a sustainable and equitable future.
Exploring Collaborative Opportunities: Satbayev University Delegation Visits CityUHK
Professor Wen Jung LI, Vice-President for Talent and International Strategy, along with Professor Jennifer LIN, Associate Vice-President (Global Strategy) at City University of Hong Kong, warmly welcomed back Professor Meiram BEGENTAYEV, Board Chairman and Rector of Satbayev University (SU), along with his delegation, Kazakhstan. This visit, built on the strong foundation of collaboration between the two institutions, aimed to further explore opportunities within the "2+2" Joint undergraduate programmes, extending these initiatives to additional School and Departments, including School of Law, Departments of Chemistry, Physics, and Mathematics. During their stay, the Rector took the opportunity to meet with SU's graduates who are currently enrolled in the Master’s Programme at CityUHK, fostering a sense of community and enriching their shared academic experience.
CityUHK signs MoU with Uruguay’s Largest University to Deepen Global Collaboration
City University of Hong Kong (CityUHK) and Uruguay’s Universidad de la República (UdelaR) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to launch a comprehensive partnership spanning faculty and researcher exchanges, student mobility, and collaborative research. On 6 November, UdelaR Vice President Professor Mariana Seoane and Uruguay’s Consul General in Hong Kong Mr Federico Lage led a delegation to CityUHK, where they were welcomed by Professor Wen Jung Li, Vice President (Talent and International Strategy), Associate Vice President (Global Strategy) Professor Jennifer Lin Fen, and other leaders. Discussions highlighted shared priorities in research innovation, talent development, and internationalisation. The agreement marks CityUHK’s first strategic footprint in South America, complementing partnerships across Europe, Central Asia, and the Middle East. Following the meeting, Professor Li, Professor Seoane, and Professor Gonzalo Vicci (President of the International Relations Service of UdelaR) formally signed the MoU, witnessed by senior representatives, reaffirming both institutions’ commitment to impactful, long term collaboration.
