Advancing Global Education: CityUHK Hosts "Study in Hong Kong" Week in APAIE

City University of Hong Kong actively participated in the "Study in Hong Kong" Week, promoting international education and collaboration. As a co-host of the Asia-Pacific Association for International Education (APAIE) 2026 Conference & Exhibition, CityUHK partnered with seven other universities to showcase the "Study in Hong Kong" Pavilion. This event facilitated over 130 meetings between CityUHK representatives and global institutions, focusing on research collaborations and student exchanges.


Professor Wen Jung Li, Vice-President (Talent and International Strategy), alongside Professor Jennifer Lin, Associate Vice-President (Global Strategy), Professor Steven Wang, Associate Vice-President (Resources Planning), Mr. Carl Tang, Associate Director of the Global Engagement Office and other GEO colleagues, attended the APAIE to promote education and strengthen collaborations with various universities. Approximately 60 international education leaders explored CityUHK’s vibrant campus and innovative facilities during the conference, further solidifying its reputation as an international education hub.


In addition, the Office of the Vice-President (Talent and International Strategy) organized meetings on campus to foster potential collaborations, engaging with representatives from Ankara University (Turkey), including Professor Necdet Ünüvar, Rector, and his team; Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (Malaysia), led by Professor Ts. Dr. Yatimah Alias, Vice-Chancellor; University Bourgogne Europe (France), represented by Professor Gregory Wegmann, Vice President for European and International Policy; Pusan National University (South Korea) with Professor Chang Hwan Lee, Vice President for International Affairs and his team; and Mount Allison University (Canada), led by Ms. Marcie Meekins, Director of Development, for in-depth discussions on future partnerships.

Strengthening Ties: UdelaR and the Consulate-General of Uruguay Visit CityUHK

City University of Hong Kong welcomed a delegation from the University of the Republic, Uruguay (UdelaR), along with the Consulate-General of Uruguay in Hong Kong. This visit marked a significant step in enhancing collaboration between the two institutions, following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in late 2025. The day began with a warm welcomed by Professor Wen Jung Li, Vice-President (Talent and International Strategy), and Professor Steven Wang, Associate Vice-President (Resources Planning). The delegation featured Professor Héctor Cancela, the newly appointed Rector of UdelaR, Mr. Federico Lage, Consul-General of Uruguay in Hong Kong, and several esteemed colleagues—all eager to strengthen their partnership with CityUHK. The meeting included in-depth discussions on future collaborations, during which both sides exchanged ideas, further solidifying their commitment to enhancing academic cooperation.

Strengthening Educational Ties: United Arab Emirates (UAE) Diplomats Visit CityUHK

The Office of the Vice-President (Talent and International Strategy) at City University of Hong Kong (CityUHK) welcomed His Excellency Hussain bin Ibrahim AL HAMMADI, Ambassador of the UAE to the People's Republic of China, and His Excellency Shaikh Saoud ALI MOHAMMED ALI ALMUALLA, Consul General of the UAE in Hong Kong. They were accompanied by their team for a productive visit focused on enhancing collaboration. Representing CityUHK were Professor Kevin Downing, Secretary to the Council and the Court, Professor Wen Jung Li, Vice-President (Talent and International Strategy), Professor Jennifer Lin, Associate Vice-President (Global Strategy), and Mr. Carl Tang, Associate Director of the Global Engagement Office. During the meeting, discussions centered around bilateral educational cooperation, student exchange opportunities, and scholarship initiatives, paving the way for strengthened partnerships between CityUHK and the UAE.
