CityUHK Partners with iCANX Science Talent Forum

The Office of Vice-President (Talent and International Strategy) at City University of Hong Kong is proud to partner with the iCANX Association to host the iCANX Science Talent Forum, taking place in Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. This two-day event brought together world-leading experts from diverse fields to share cutting-edge achievements, insights, and leadership in Innovation, Science, Technology, Investment, Management, and Entrepreneurship (ISTIME). Headquartered in Switzerland, iCANX organizes annual summits featuring keynote presentations, exhibitions, and award-pitching sessions. This year’s forum served as a dynamic platform to foster research collaboration and promote intellectual exchange, paving the way for future innovations and strategic partnerships for CityUHK and Hong Kong.>

 

Professor Freddy BOEY, President and University Distinguished Professor of City University of Hong Kong, presented at the conference on the topic of "Innovation Tomorrow: CityUHK’s Scientific Breakthroughs." He emphasized that CityUHK is strengthening its global reputation through excellence in scientific research and interdisciplinary innovation. CityUHK’s scholars are widely recognized for impactful contributions across diverse fields, guided by five strategic themes—One Health, Digital Society, Smart City, Matter, and the Brain—each addressing pressing global challenges. Together, these initiatives reflect a holistic approach to innovation—integrating research, education, and enterprise to drive meaningful societal transformation.

Distinguished Visiting Professor Morteza Gharib Visits CityUHK

Professor Morteza (Mory) GHARIB, the Hans W. Liepmann Professor of Aeronautics and Medical Engineering at the California Institute of Technology (Caltech), our Distinguished Visiting Professor visited CityUHK. During his visit, Professor Gharib delivered an engaging seminar titled "From Mars Helicopter to Multi-modal Drones," sharing insights from his groundbreaking research in aerospace engineering. He also met with colleagues from College of Engineering (CENG) and Mechanical Engineering (MNE) to explore potential research collaborations, fostering innovative partnerships and advancing our collective knowledge in the field.

Exploring Collaboration with the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE)

During the UK trip in mid-October, President Freddy BOEY also led the CityUHK delegation, including Professor Anderson Ho-cheung SHUM, Vice-President (Research), Professor Wen Jung LI, Vice-President for Talent and International Strategy, Professor Steven WANG, Associate Vice-President (Resources Planning), and Ms Pheck Choo NG, Senior Director (Office of the President) and Director (Global Engagement Office), visited to the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) to discuss potential collaborations and long-term partnership opportunities. Meeting with LSE President Professor Larry KRAMER, the delegation explored various avenues for academic exchange and research cooperation.
