Professor Omar Matar Visits CityUHK as Distinguished Visiting Professor
Professor Omar Matar, Head of the Department of Chemical Engineering at Imperial College London, and our Distinguished Visiting Professor (DVP) visited CityUHK. During his visit, Professor Matar delivered an insightful seminar entitled “Numerical Simulations of Miscible and Immiscible Two-Phase Flows,” sharing his latest research advancements and perspectives with faculty members and students. In addition, Professor Matar also met with CityUHK senior management and engaged in productive discussions that fostered meaningful academic exchange. His visit strengthened mutual understanding and laid a solid foundation for deeper collaboration between CityUHK and Imperial College London.
CityUHK Contributes to GAOCS2026 Round-table Panel on AI Engineering Education
Prof. Wen-Jung Li was invited to participate in the round-table panel on “AI 工程教育论坛” (AI Engineering Education Forum) at the 2026 Global Academic Summit for Overseas Academicians and Scholars and the 2nd Annual Symposium of the Global Academy of Overseas Chinese Scholars (GAOCS2026). At the forum, Prof. Li shared his views on the growing importance of artificial intelligence in engineering education and the cultivation of future-ready talent.
Organised by the Global Academy of Overseas Chinese Scholars (GAOCS) and jointly hosted by the Eastern Institute of Technology, Ningbo, GAOCS2026 brought together overseas academicians, experts, and scholars to exchange insights and promote collaboration. Continuing its theme of “Converging Wisdom, Innovation-driven Development, and Industry-Research Integration”, the conference focused on key global areas including new energy materials, artificial intelligence, and biomedicine.
The round-table panel provided a valuable platform for dialogue on AI-enabled engineering education, cross-disciplinary innovation, and international cooperation. CityUHK’s participation highlighted its commitment to advancing academic excellence, strengthening global partnerships, and supporting initiatives that connect education, research, and industry for regional and global innovation.
Nanjing Municipal Bureau of Science and Technology Visits CityUHK to Explore Collaboration Opportunities
A delegation led by Mr. Zhu Chaoping, Deputy Director-General of the Nanjing Municipal Bureau of Science and Technology, visited City University of Hong Kong (CityUHK). They were warmly welcomed by Professor Wen Jung Li, Vice-President (Talent and International Strategy), Professor Wang Jian from the School of Energy and Environment, and Professor Luo Rui from the Department of Systems Engineering.
The parties held in-depth discussions on areas including technological innovation, talent development, research commercialization and industrial applications.
