Consul General of Japan in Hong Kong Visits City University of Hong Kong

Professor Freddy BOEY, President of CityUHK, along with Professor Wen Jung LI, Vice-President of Talent and International Strategy, warmly welcomed Mr. Jun MIURA, the Consul-General of Japan in Hong Kong, along with Ms. Tsuzumi INO, Vice-Consul of the Public Relations and Cultural Affairs Division, and their team member. During the meeting, they engaged in a fruitful discussion about expanding CityUHK's collaboration with various Japanese universities. They explored opportunities with Japanese industries, and new start-up industries, and the promotion of Japanese cultural events at CityUHK.

Consul General of Canada Visits City University of Hong Kong

Professor Wen Jung LI, Vice-President for Talent and International Strategy, together with Professor Jennifer LIN, Associate Vice-President (Global Strategy), Professor Steven WANG, Associate Vice-President (Resources Planning), and Ms Pheck Choo NG, Senior Director (Office of the President) & Director (Global Engagement Office), and Mr Carl TANG, Associate Director (Global Engagement Office) from CityUHK, welcomed Mr. Charles Edwin Reeves, Consul-General of Canada in Hong Kong and Macao, along with his delegation, including Ms. Laurel Rasmus, Consul, Ms. Janet Macphee, Vice Consul & Trade Commissioner and Ms. Jennifer Farquharson, Political Officer. The Consul General expressed admiration for CityUHK's internationalization efforts and highlighted its collaborations with various countries and cultural organizations. Recognizing the strong Canadian community in Hong Kong, CityUHK aims to enhance academic exchange programs with prestigious universities in Canada and organize cultural events and collaborations, fostering deeper ties between the two entities. CityUHK is also looking forward to the second visit of the Consul General of Canada.

CityUHK at NAFSA 2025: Exploring Global Educational Collaborations

Prof. Steven Wang, Associate Vice-President (Resources Planning), and Mr. Carl Tang, Associate Director of the Global Engagement Office (GEO), along with other GEO team members, participated in the NAFSA conference held in San Diego, USA.

The NAFSA conference served as a vital platform for CityUHK to enhance its visibility and foster collaboration with other universities in Hong Kong through the "Study in Hong Kong" session. This year, the government’s involvement highlighted the importance of exploring student exchange programmes and research collaborations, not only in the USA but also with other countries. Through these interactions, CityUHK aims to strengthen its commitment to global education and build valuable partnerships that benefit both students and institutions.

At the conference, Prof. Wang presented on the role of AI and technology in enhancing learning and integrating the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) into the curricula at CityUHK. This highlighted the institution's commitment to innovative educational strategies.
