CityUHK Led Hong Kong Universities at the APAIE Conference 2025
City University of Hong Kong was honored to serve as the primary convenor for the 2025 APAIE (Asia-Pacific Association for International Education) conference. This event brought together eight universities from Hong Kong to collaboratively explore critical themes, including global education, student mobility, partnerships, and diversity and inclusion. Representing CityUHK were Professor Jennifer Lin, Associate Vice-President (Global Strategy), Professor May Pang, Associate Dean (Internationalisation) of the College of Business (CB), Professor Alex Wong, Associate Dean of the College of Science (CSCI), Professor May Bo Ching, Associate Dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences (CLASS); and Mr. Carl Tang, Associate Director of the Global Engagement Office (GEO), along with other GEO team members. Their participation showcased CityUHK’s commitment to advancing education and fostering international collaboration in the Asia-Pacific higher education landscape.
The presence of Dr. Choi Yuk-lin, JP, Secretary for Education at the Education Bureau (EDB) of Hong Kong SAR, further enriched discussions on student exchange programs and research collaborations, reinforcing our dedication to addressing global challenges and building a sustainable future.Through this conference, CityUHK established deeper connections with delegations from France, Slovakia, Romania, and Malaysia. Together with Professor James Tang, Secretary-General of the University Grants Committee (UGC) of Hong Kong SAR, CityUHK representatives provided an introduction to Hong Kong’s higher education system, serving as a regional report during the conference. Overall, the CityUHK delegation strengthened global collaboration with other countries.
Bridging Boundaries: Collaboration Between Simon Fraser University (SFU), Canada, and CityUHK
City University of Hong Kong warmly welcomed Professor Joy Johnson, President and Vice-Chancellor of Simon Fraser University (SFU), Canada. During her visit, she met with Professor Freddy Boey, President of CityUHK and other representatives to explore potential areas of collaboration between the two institutions. Having established a partnership with SFU, particularly within the College of Engineering, both universities expressed their eagerness to further enhance collaboration in the future. This meeting has strengthened ties and fostered academic exchange that will benefit both faculty and students.
Strengthening Collaboration: Visit from La Salle University Ramon Llull Barcelona, Spain
City University of Hong Kong warmly welcomed Mr. Víctor Alves, Senior International Relations Officer and Global Experience Manager from La Salle University Ramon Llull Barcelona, who met with President Freddy Boey and other representatives of CityUHK to explore potential areas of collaboration between the two universities. The meeting focused on aligning both universities' goals and initiatives, identifying exciting opportunities for joint programs and academic exchanges in the future.
