Strengthening Regional Ties Through Health Industry and Healthcare Technology
CityUHK co‑hosted the “Greater Bay Area Health Industry Development Exchange Conference” on 20 March 2026 in collaboration with the Zhuhai National Hi‑Tech Industrial Development Zone and the Shenzhen Industry‑University‑Research Institute Collaboration Association (SZIUR). The half‑day event brought together over 70 participants, ranging from Zhuhai government officials, academics, and industry leaders, to explore emerging opportunities in the Greater Bay Area’s rapidly expanding health sector.
The programme featured welcome remarks by Prof. Michael Yang, Senior Vice-President (Innovation and Enterprise), followed by expert presentations from CityUHK scholars and distinguished industry representatives on biomedical innovation, smart healthcare, and ideas for cross‑border collaboration.
A promotion session led by the Zhuhai Hi‑Tech Industrial Development Zone and a networking‑focused matching session at the Bistro Lodge further deepened engagement and partnership building.
CityUHK representatives, including Prof. Wen Jung Li, Vice-President (Talent and International Strategy); Prof. Johnny Ho of HKTech 300; and Prof. Yu Xinge of the Institute of Digital Medicine, highlighted the University’s commitment to advancing health innovation and collaborations across the Greater Bay Area.
Chinachem Group, CityUHK and Hang Seng Bank Forge Tripartite Partnership to Drive Low-Carbon and Silver Economy Development
On 9 March 2026, Chinachem Group, City University of Hong Kong, and Hang Seng Bank announced the launch of a strategic collaboration titled “Driving a Low-Carbon Ecosystem, Inspiring the Silver Generation.” The Tripartite Partnership brings together the strengths of the financial sector, property development, and academia to accelerate Hong Kong’s transition toward a low-carbon economy while addressing the needs of its rapidly ageing population.
Mr Andy Cheung, Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer of Chinachem Group; Professor Freddy Boey, President and University Distinguished Professor of CityUHK; and Ms Luanne Lim, Executive Director and Chief Executive of Hang Seng Bank, jointly officiated at the launch ceremony, marking the start of the strategic partnership to advance Hong Kong’s green and silver economy. CityUHK representatives also included Professor Anderson Shum, Vice-President (Research); Professor Wen Jung Li, Vice-President (Talent and International Strategy); Professor Steven Wang, Associate Vice-President (Resources Planning); and other CityUHK colleagues, underscoring the University’s strong commitment to cross-sector collaboration and innovation-driven solutions.
CityUHK Strengthens European Ties with Strategic MoU Signing with Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava
During Asia-Pacific Association for International Education (APAIE), City University of Hong Kong signed a MoU with the Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava, Slovakia’s leading technological university, to establish a strategic academic and research partnership and expand its “Belt and Road” collaborations in Europe.
The MoU was signed on the CityUHK campus by Professor Jennifer Lin, Associate Vice-President (Global Strategy) at CityUHK, and Professor Katarína Smatanová, Vice-Rector for Public Relations and International Cooperation at STU. CityUHK representatives attending the ceremony also included Professor Steven Wang, Associate Vice-President (Resources Planning); Professor Yanni Sun, Associate Head (Undergraduate Programmes) of the Department of Electrical Engineering; Professor Alvin Lai, Associate Head of the Department of Architecture and Civil Engineering; and Professor Juan Antonio Zapien from the Department of Materials Science and Engineering. The partnership further enhances CityUHK’s academic network in Europe, reinforces the “Study in Hong Kong” brand, and underscores the University’s commitment to advancing international higher education collaboration.
