Speaking to more than 120 veterinary professionals at an annual dinner of the Peace Avenue Veterinary Clinic, Professor Way Kuo, CityU President, discussed the importance to Hong Kong of a new veterinary school.
More than 20 CityU faculty, staff and students took a tour on the visiting floating university, MV Explorer, to gain a first-hand experience of on-board education, on 23 February.
"Successful communication depends more upon content and sincerity than language itself," said Professor Way Kuo, University President, addressing secondary students and their teachers at a Distinguished Lecture organised by The Jockey Club Eduyoung College.
Professor Way Kuo invited close to 40 academic and administrative staff to a tea gathering on 25 September to strengthen communication with staff in a more relaxed atmosphere. Such tea gatherings will be held regularly.
Hong Kong museums, and their increasing sophistication and evolution, were the subject of the City Cultural Salon on 22 September, featuring Dr Louis Ng Chi-wa, Assistant Director of Leisure and Cultural Services Department.
Professor Way Kuo, University President, led a five-member delegation to Shanghai and Hangzhou earlier this month to explore opportunities for more academic collaboration and exchange with top mainland universities.
Professor Way Kuo has participated in a range of student activities since joining CityU. In his latest efforts to better understand the students' needs and living environment, he paid several visits to students' families and the student residence halls.
Since assuming the presidency, Professor Way Kuo has placed strong emphasis on communicating with the CityU community. In a bold initiative, he is going to share his thoughts and viewpoints to an online audience via a newly launched blog, as of 17 September.
Professor Way Kuo, University President, met some 160 alumni, students and staff to talk about the future development of CityU under the theme of "Scaling new heights with a dual focus on teaching and research" on 4 September.
CityU Gallery is hosting an exhibition, "Ming Qing in the Eyes of Ming-Qing", showing around 80 items of antique Chinese calligraphy, paintings, musical instruments and daily commodities from Ming and Qing dynasties from 5 to 26 September.
