CityUHK signs MoU with Uruguay’s Largest University to Deepen Global Collaboration

City University of Hong Kong (CityUHK) and Uruguay’s Universidad de la República (UdelaR) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to launch a comprehensive partnership spanning faculty and researcher exchanges, student mobility, and collaborative research. On 6 November, UdelaR Vice President Professor Mariana Seoane and Uruguay’s Consul General in Hong Kong Mr Federico Lage led a delegation to CityUHK, where they were welcomed by Professor Wen Jung Li, Vice President (Talent and International Strategy), Associate Vice President (Global Strategy) Professor Jennifer Lin Fen, and other leaders. Discussions highlighted shared priorities in research innovation, talent development, and internationalisation. The agreement marks CityUHK’s first strategic footprint in South America, complementing partnerships across Europe, Central Asia, and the Middle East. Following the meeting, Professor Li, Professor Seoane, and Professor Gonzalo Vicci (President of the International Relations Service of UdelaR) formally signed the MoU, witnessed by senior representatives, reaffirming both institutions’ commitment to impactful, long term collaboration.

Strengthening Global Partnerships: Brock University Visited CityUHK

Professor Wen Jung Li, Vice-President (Talent and International Strategy), along with Professor Jennifer Lin, Associate Vice-President (Global Strategy), Professor Steven Wang, Associate Vice-President (Resources Planning), and Mr. Carl Tang, Associate Director of the Global Engagement Office at City University of Hong Kong, warmly welcomed Dr. Barry Wright, Associate Vice-President, International, and Mr. David Begg, Dean of the Goodman School of Business from Brock University, and Ms Anna Guo Director, International Student Recruitment. This visit provided a valuable opportunity to explore potential collaborations between the two institutions, fostering discussions on shared goals and strategies for academic partnership.

Bridging Innovation: CityUHK Delegation's Visit to Suzhou Kowloon Hospital, China

In a remarkable effort to enhance research collaboration and foster innovation, Professor Steven WANG, Associate Vice-President (Resources Planning) of City University of Hong Kong, led a delegation from CityUHK, which included Professor Yu HUANG, Head of the Department of Biomedical Science (BMS), Professor Jufang HE, Head of the Department of Neuroscience, and Professor Yong ZHANG, Head of the Biomedical Engineering Department and other CityUHK colleagues. The delegation also included several promising HKTech 300 start-up companies, including E3A HEALTHCARE PTE LTD, SHARPSIGHT LIMITED, Cimple Biotechnology Limited, and Vismed Training Limited, who sought to establish closer ties with Suzhou's medical and research institutions

The visit was thoughtfully curated by the Suzhou team, showcasing the hospital’s professional spirit and commitment to collaboration. The discussions held during the visit were rich and engaging, highlighting mutual interests in advancing biomedical research and technology. This exchange also marks a significant step forward in building robust partnerships that can lead to groundbreaking advancements in the biomedical field with CityUHK.
