Expanding Horizons: CityUHK Council Chairman Visits Middle East and Central Asia
Professor Michael Ngai, Council Chairman of City University of Hong Kong (CityUHK), visited Doha, Qatar, and Almaty, Kazakhstan, to strengthen partnerships with leading universities and enterprises in the region under the Belt and Road Initiative. Accompanied by Professor Kevin Downing, Secretary to Council and Count, and Professor Wen Jung Li, Vice-President (Talent and International Strategy), Professor Ngai met with Dr. Huda Mahmoud Abdullah Mahmoud of Kuwait University to discuss academic exchange and talent development, building on their earlier meeting in May. In Almaty, he visited Satbayev University, where he delivered a keynote speech on CityUHK's educational philosophy and inaugurated the CityUHK Institute for Research and Innovation. His dedication to fostering international collaboration was recognized with an Honorary Professorship from Satbayev University. Professor Ngai's efforts underscore CityUHK's commitment to becoming an international hub for higher education, aligning with the vision of the Hong Kong SAR Government.
Strengthening Ties: CityUHK at France-Hong Kong Day
Prof. Jennifer LIN, Associate Vice-President (Global Strategy), and Mr. Carl Tang, Associate Director of the Global Engagement Office (GEO), represented CityUHK at the France-Hong Kong Day held in Paris. This event, featuring a series of presentations and networking opportunities, brought together leaders from Hong Kong's academic community, including Mr. James Tang, UGC Secretary-General, to explore collaborative initiatives with French universities.
