CityUHK Strengthens Research Ties with Kyung Hee University
City University of Hong Kong was pleased to welcome Professor Jong Bok Kim, Provost for External Affairs of Kyung Hee University, South Korea. Prof. Chun Sing Lee, Acting President of CityUHK, together with Prof. Wen Jung Li, Vice-President (Talent and International Strategy), Prof. Jennifer Lin, Associate Vice-President (Global Strategy), and Prof. Kiwon Ban, Associate Professor of the Department of Biomedical Sciences, warmly received the delegation. During the meeting, Prof. Kim expressed the remarkable number of CityUHK scholars recognised as Highly Cited Researchers, noting the University’s strong global research impact. Both sides held fruitful discussions on enhancing research collaboration, and exploring joint initiatives in areas of mutual interest.
Research.Collaboration.Impact.United Action for a Greener and Intergenerational Hong Kong
On 12 June 2026, Chinachem Group (CCG), City University of Hong Kong (CityUHK), and Hang Seng Bank (Hang Seng) jointly hosted the Future-Ready Hong Kong Summit 2026: Driving a Low-Carbon Ecosystem, Inspiring the Silver Generation at Nina Hotel Tsuen Wan West.
The summit featured an international line-up of speakers, including Nobel Laureates and leading academics. A key highlight was the launch of the joint white paper, Creating a Green and Silver Economy: Policy, Finance, Technology, and the Built Environment, which outlines a practical roadmap for Hong Kong’s sustainable and inclusive future. As climate challenges and demographic shifts intensify, the need for integrated, cross-sector solutions is increasingly urgent.
Nearly 500 participants attended, including Guest of Honour Mr Cheuk Wing-hing, Deputy Chief Secretary for Administration of the HKSAR Government, alongside senior government officials, business leaders, and academics. Through keynotes and panel discussions, the summit explored how Hong Kong can better address these interconnected challenges.
The event highlights a strong cross-sector collaboration: CCG contributes expertise in the built environment, CityUHK advances research and innovation, and Hang Seng Bank leads in green finance and financial inclusion. Together, the partnership promotes a more integrated approach – linking environmental sustainability with demographic change and social inclusion.
CityUHK strengthens Central Asia partnerships: Vice-Ministerial engagement and MoU with Uzbekistan’s premier technical University
A high-level university delegation led by Professor the Honourable Michael Ngai, Council Chairman of City University of Hong Kong (CityUHK) met with Mr Salomov Uktam Rahimovich, Deputy Minister of Higher Education, Science and Innovation of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
CityUHK signed an MoU with Tashkent State Technical University (TSTU), a leading institution in Uzbekistan, initiating research collaboration and a joint talent development programme. The MoU was signed by Professor Wen Jung Li, Vice-President (Talent and International Strategy) of CityUHK, and Professor Donayev Sardor Burkhanovich, Vice-Rector (Scientific Affairs and Innovations) of TSTU. It was witnessed by Professor Ngai and Dr Azimov Shavkat Shukhratovich, Vice-Rector for International Relations and Transformations at TSTU.
Aligned with the Central Asia visit led by Mr John Lee, Chief Executive of the HKSAR, the CityUHK delegation also joined the official banquet co-organised by the HKSAR Government and the Hong Kong Trade Development Council to celebrate bilateral MoU signing.
