Exploring the Future: Impacts of Emerging Technologies on Society in Davos Summit 2024
VPTI represented CityUHK at the ICANX-Davos Summit 2024 in Davos, Switzerland, hosting a forum on "Frontier of Technologies: Impacts on Future Society and Humanity." The discussion explored how emerging technologies, including AI, quantum computing, blockchain, IoT, 6G, VR/AR, personalized medicine, and sustainable tech, will shape the future. Participants examined the technical challenges and potential societal impacts of these innovations, considering how their work can positively influence humanity in the coming decades. The panel experts included Prof. Metin Sitti (President of Koc University, Turkey), Prof. Ali Khademhosseini (President of Terasaki Institute for Biomedical Innovation, USA), Prof. Saifur Rahman (IEEE President & CEO, 2023), and Prof. Yuejian Zhang (Deputy Director, Shanghai Sci-Tech Inno Center for Infection & Immunity).

CityUHK establishes Research and Innovation Institution (CIRI) in Kazakhstan
CityUHK has made a new partnership with Satbayev University in Astana, Kazakhstan. The two institutions have signed an agreement to establish a CityUHK Institution of Research and Innovation (CIRI) in Kazakhstan. The CIRI will serve as a hub for collaborative research, innovation, and entrepreneurship, bringing together faculty, students, and industry partners from both universities.
Visit of American University of Sharjah, United Arab Emirates
Dr. Tod A. Laursen, the Chancellor of the American University of Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates, recently embarked on a visit to the City University of Hong Kong. Accompanied by his team, Dr. Laursen was warmly greeted by Prof. Wen-Jung Li, Vice-President (Talent and International Strategy) of CityUHK. The purpose of their visit was to seek to explore mutually beneficial opportunities for partnership between the two universities.
