CityUHK Opens Institute for Research and Innovation in Kazakhstan

Following their visit to Kuwait, a high-level delegation from City University of Hong Kong (CityUHK), led by Council Chairman Mr. Michael Ngai, traveled to Almaty, Kazakhstan, to officially inaugurate the CityUHK Institute for Research and Innovation (CIRI) at Satbayev University. The ceremony was attended by distinguished guests, including Ms. Jiang Wei, Consul General of China, and Mr. Azamat Kaldybekov, Deputy Akim of Almaty, marking a significant milestone for collaborative research. During the visit, a MoU was also signed to establish a dual PhD program, allowing Kazakhstani students to pursue studies at both institutions. This initiative is designed to strengthen academic ties and cultivate globally minded research talent. Mr. Ngai reaffirmed CityUHK's commitment to enhancing Hong Kong's status as an international education hub while fostering partnerships within the Belt and Road Initiative.

CityUHK Delegation Explores Strategic Partnerships in Kuwait

A high-level delegation from City University of Hong Kong, led by Council Chairman Mr. Michael Ngai, visited Kuwait to seek strategic partnerships in higher education along the Belt and Road Initiative. As the sole university represented in a mission organized by Chief Executive Mr. John Lee and the Hong Kong Trade Development Council, CityUHK engaged in productive discussions with the Kuwaiti Ministry of Higher Education and Kuwait University. The delegation highlighted CityUHK’s academic excellence and its recognition as the "Most International University in the World" for 2024 and 2025. Together, they explored initiatives for faculty exchanges, joint research, and collaborative academic programs to foster innovation and talent development.

Advancing Higher Education: CityUHK and Southeast University Forge New Partnerships

City University of Hong Kong and Southeast University have embarked on a new phase of academic collaboration. Led by President Sun Youhong, a delegation from Southeast University visited CityUHK to engage in discussions with President Freddy Boey and key university leaders. The meeting centered on strengthening academic exchanges and establishing joint research centers, culminating in the signing of two MoUs— one at the institutional level and another with the College of Engineering, emphasizing student exchanges and research collaboration. President Boey emphasized CityUHK's commitment to innovation and internationalization, aiming to nurture future-oriented engineering talent through enhanced cooperation with Southeast University.
