What Other Tools/Systems can be Utilized for Checking Class Attendance?
Microsoft Forms can be used for checking class attendance as well. Below is a screen example of Microsoft Forms being displayed from a student's mobile device:
Below are some key features of the tool:
- Show QR code to let students join
- Display the real-time statistics of responses
- Record the respondent names for taking student attendance. (Below are the settings options for recording respondent names in your Microsoft Forms)

To share forms that only CityUHK students can access with authentication, teachers must use an additional EID-f@staff.cityu.edu.hk account to create and share the forms with students.
To request an additional Office 365 Staff Account EID-f@staff.cityu.edu.hk, please contact your General Office colleagues for assistance. They can help you submit a CSC Work Request via the Service Portal.
Please provide an Office365 account "Your EID-f@staff.cityu.edu.hk".
Canvas Quizzes can also be used to take attendance by requiring students to participate in them with quiz restrictions (i.e., Require an access code).
More instructions for Canvas Quizzes are located in the Canvas Instructor Guide.
