A series of orientation activities from 23–27 August will encourage new CityU students to achieve professionalism, develop a responsible attitude and contribute to society.

CityU Student Development Services organised the welcoming ceremony for new students to help prepare them for their new life at the University. Professor Way Kuo encouraged students to maximise their University years and contribute to society upon graduation.
To welcome new students, CityU held an orientation sculpture display ceremony on 19 August. Memorabilia items donated by CityU members were encased in colourful wax and incorporated into a large sculpture. It will become a permanent exhibit on campus.
