Two Town Hall meetings at CityU are updating staff about the latest developments on campus and various budgetary matters.
Outside, the wind was chilly, but inside the Chan Tai Ho Multi-purpose Hall, where the New Year Staff Party took place on 28 January, the atmosphere was warm. A jovial spirit captivated some 1,000 colleagues who gathered there for what has become an annual ritual of good fortune, fun and camaraderie.
CityU's 2000-2001 Annual Report and Financial Report won a Bronze prize in the Non-profit Making and Charitable Organization category in the 2002 Best Annual Reports Awards organized by the Hong Kong Management Association (HKMA). At a ceremony on 16 December, Professor Y S Wong, Vice-President for Administration, received a trophy on behalf of the University from the organizer.
The University has stepped up measures to promote staff awareness of copyright liability concerning computer software. From September 2002 to March 2003, all academic and administrative units are required to conduct a software asset self-assessment exercise to identify actual software that is used on each personal computer and its licensing status. Moreover, as a University policy, individual units are required to purchase any new software through the centralized i-Procurement system.
City Express, the University's popular canteen on the 5th Floor of the Amenities Building, is setting new standards among Hong Kong's educational institutions in food safety, health, and hygiene.
