CityU has generated $200m in the Third Matching Grant Scheme, of which $120m are funds raised by the University. This is 60 per cent more than the amount generated in the Second Scheme.

CityU is bolstering measures to prevent the spread of avian flu on campus and reminds staff and students to remain vigilant against a possible outbreak.
Staff and students will have extra space for teaching and learning, as well as for work and relaxation, with the recent opening of a 300-seater lecture theatre and Green House facilities and planned new classrooms and other facilities.
Preparation for the 20th Anniversary Celebration enters the final stages. The party with international flavour will be held at noon on 20 December in University Circle.
The new, user-friendly campus map is a convenient tool to help visitors find their way to CityU, or search for a specific location / building / facility at the University.
Founded in 1984, CityU turns 20 this year. "If a centenary marks the first cycle of a university's development, CityU is still on its way. We have fared well thus far, with tremendous achievements in our first 20 years," said Professor H K Chang, President, at the Staff New Year Party on 28 January, kicking off the 20th anniversary year. 2004 is a time to look back and rejoice in our achievements, and to look forward to the future with a new role statement.
CityU won a Green Office Award in the 2003 Hong Kong Eco-Business Awards, an annual event organized by the Environmental Campaign Committee, HKSAR, to recognize organizations with substantial achievements in environmental management.
Outside, the wind was chilly, but inside the Chan Tai Ho Multi-purpose Hall, where the New Year Staff Party took place on 28 January, the atmosphere was warm. A jovial spirit captivated some 1,000 colleagues who gathered there for what has become an annual ritual of good fortune, fun and camaraderie.
CityU's Facilities Management Office (FMO), achieved all the targets of the Hong Kong government's Wastewi$e Scheme, becoming the first local tertiary institution to be awarded the prestigious Gold Wastewi$e Logo.
