CityU has organised a conference on the Internationalisation of Chinese Universities. Professor Way Kuo, CityU President, and representatives from mainland, Taiwan, Macau and Hong Kong universities and government sectors shared their views on the topic.
Students from CityU and Tianjin University engaged in a debating competition entitled "Does economic globalisation result in cultural globalisation?" on 17 July to examine the interaction of Eastern and Western cultural influences in Hong Kong and Tianjin.

The China Proper Track Society of the Students’ Union held a National Flag-raising Ceremony on 30 April to mark the Youth Day. With the 100-day countdown to Beijing Olympics which coincided, Mascot Fuwa also attended the ceremony.
