The path to achieving one’s dreams may seem obscure at times. However, the CityU Information Day on 7 October 2023 provided eager secondary students with a roadmap before pursuing their undergraduate studies.
The College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences (CLASS) and seven other academic units, namely Department of Chinese and History, English, Linguistics and Translation, Media and Communication (COM), Public and International Affairs (PIA), Social and Behavioural Sciences (SS) as well as Chan Feng Men-ling Chan Shuk-lin Language Centre curated an array of riveting activities for prospective students. These activities aimed to help them discover the academic programmes offered by CLASS and make well-informed decisions about what to study.
During the event, CLASS conducted two admission talks, attracting around 250 attendees in total. Professor Daniel LYNCH, Associate Dean (Undergraduate Education and Quality Assurance) of CLASS, first gave a collegiate overview of the programmes, study pathways and exchange opportunities available. Additionally, Professor Dannii YEUNG, Associate Dean (Research) of CLASS, addressed students’ queries and motivated them to go after their interests and aspirations.
Aside from the information sessions, CLASS academic units arranged exhibitions, game booths, guided tours and Virtual Reality demonstrations for interested participants. Led by faculty members, student ambassadors and staff, the attendees seized the opportunity to traverse the campus and get a glimpse of the learning facilities and research laboratories.
