Outbound Exchange
Eligibility Criteria
To be considered for the outbound exchange programme, applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Enrolment Status
- Full-time students of the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences enrolled in a CityUHK government-funded bachelor's degree programme.
- Academic Progress
- Students from nominative 4-year undergraduate programmes must have completed at least one year of study and declared their major before applying for the Student Exchange Programme.
- Advanced Standing students must have completed at least one year of study at CityUHK before the start of the exchange programme.
- Academic Performance
- A Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 2.5 or above.
- English Language Proficiency
- Applicants must meet one of the following minimum English language requirements, unless they are applying for programmes conducted in Chinese at partner institutions in Chinese Mainland or Taiwan, China:
- IELTS overall band score of 6.5; or
- TOEFL (iBT) score of 79; or
- Grade C in a University English course approved by the Senate for fulfilling the University language requirement; or
- Level 4 of HKDSE English Language; or
- Any other equivalent qualifications accepted by the University as proof of English language proficiency.
- Note: IELTS and TOEFL results are valid for two years from the test date.
- Note: Students with a valid IELTS, TOEFL, or equivalent result that is internationally recognised and widely accepted by partner institutions will have an advantage in the selection process.
- Host Institution Requirements
- Applicants must meet any additional requirements set by the host institutions, such as specific language proficiency.
The College reserves the right to withdraw the Student Exchange Programme offer if an applicant fails to fulfil the programme requirements, including but not limited to English language proficiency (except for exchange programmes in Chinese Mainland and Taiwan, China).
Selection Criteria
Successful applicants are expected to demonstrate the following qualities:
- Strong communication skills and the ability to adapt to an overseas academic environment.
- A record of participation in co-curricular or extra-curricular activities.
- Enthusiasm for engaging in exchange activities and a willingness to promote the International Exchange Programme.
