Latest Issue of CITY CLASS Magazine Released

The latest issue of CITY CLASS, the magazine of the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences,is released.


Reflective of the College’s mission to pursue teaching and research excellence, and contribute to the betterment of the society through knowledge transfer, this issue reveals how experts and alumnus from various academic units make good use of their expertise, as well as the College’s effort to equip students to face challenges in this ever-changing world.


The journey begins with a comprehensive analysis of a serious but often overlooked issue in Hong Kong: bullying and its relationship with suicide. Then, let’s stop by for some intriguing chats with Australia-born expert in Japanese politics Dr Bradley WILLIAMS, and Dr HSIEH Chih-wai, Dr Sylvia KWOK LAI Yuk-ching and her team who designed outstanding pedagogies which earned them the College’s Teaching Innovation Award this year. Another highlight is an interview with CLASS alumnus Christina FONG Chui-yee, who was inspired by her teachers at CityU CLASS to pursue a teaching career and continues to nurture future generation in her current role as a school principal. This issue also reviews some of the many research achievements which were published as scholarly books or in journal publications, or shared at public conferences and seminars.


The College is also dedicated to supporting students in their broader life by offering overseas exchange opportunities. Readers are invited to travel with three students joining different programmes this summer, who shared their experience and told how these programmes help them become more open-minded and enhance cultural awareness.
