Dreams Take Flight at JUPAS Consultation Day 2023

As the doors of City University of Hong Kong (CityU) swung open in the bright morning, a throng of eager students streamed into the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences (CLASS) for the JUPAS Consultation Day on 20 May 2023. With enthusiasm and anticipation, the prospective students sought to discover the academic programmes available to them.

CLASS and its six departments, namely Department of Chinese and History (CAH), English (EN), Linguistics and Translation (LT), Media and Communication (COM), Public and International Affairs (PIA), Social and Behavioural Sciences (SS) arranged a kaleidoscope of dazzling activities. For example, the admission talks provided helpful information on the various programmes available at CLASS. From the expert seminars, laboratory equipment demonstrations, and VR tasters, the attendees also had a glimpse of what their academic studies would look like at CityU.

The College Session was among the event's highlights, where Professor Daniel LYNCH, Associate Dean (Undergraduate Education and Quality Assurance) of CLASS, gave an overview of the College's academic programs, scholarships, and global opportunities. Dr Dannii YEUNG, College Outreach Coordinator and Associate Professor of SS, later answered students’ queries and motivated them to go after the programme that resonates with their interests and aspirations.

Throughout the morning, the faculty members and student representatives from each department were generous with their time and expertise, chatting with the registrants about the curriculum, admission requirements, and job prospects. Such lively conversations brought practical tips for prospective students when going through their JUPAS choices.

Essentially, the JUPAS Consultation Day helped secondary students make informed decisions about their education. Leaving the campus inspired and empowered, they gained valuable insights and confidence to take the leap toward achieving their academic dreams.
