Around 90 creative technology projects by students from CSE are showcased in an exhibition on 27-28 May. Putting creativity and technology into everyday life, the students turned their interesting ideas into practical devices.

A joint awards presentation ceremony for “Company Consultancy Projects and Active Learner Awards” was held on 27 May at CityU by the Department of Marketing, aimed to encourage students in learning actively and obtaining experience through practical work.

The Chinese Academy of Sciences held a certificate-awarding ceremony on 18 May for three newly elected Hong Kong-based CAS academicians, including Chair Professor Philippe G Ciarlet from CityU, to recognise their outstanding achievements and contributions.

Mr Ho Chuan-hsing, Chief Curator, Department of Painting and Calligraphy, Taipei Palace Museum, delivered a talk on the Chinese painting “Dwelling in the Fuchun Mountains” and presented prizes to winners of an online quiz on Chinese paintings on 17 May.

The award presentation ceremony of the 5th City Literary Awards organised by CityU was held on 15 May. The number of entries reached a record high of 496 this year.

Dr Cheung Sai-on, Dr Raymond Lau and Ms Maria Jose Pareja Lopez have received 2009-10 Teaching Excellence Awards in recognition of their outstanding teaching performance.
CityU moved up three places to rank 15th among the top Asian universities, according to the 2010 Asian University Rankings published by QS.

"To maintain Hong Kong’s uniqueness and competitiveness, we must invest in scientific research and encourage creativity," said Professor Way Kuo, University President, addressing over 300 secondary and tertiary students at a forum held on 11 May.

Distinguished speakers with outstanding achievements attended a CityU seminar on 8 May to share their views with senior secondary students on how teenagers can maintain the momentum in their lives in face of constant challenges.

CityU will confer honorary doctoral degrees on Mr Chung Shui-ming, Dr Barry Lam, Dr Lee Kai-Fu, Professor Jean-Marie Lehn and The Hon Chief Justice Andrew Li Kwok-nang in recognition of their significant contribution to education and the well-being of society.
