Join CLASS Summer Internationalisation Programmes Now

Although virtual learning is convenient and widely adopted by students all over the world, gaining firsthand experience and immersing oneself in another community can always optimise our learning effectiveness. Travelling abroad, living in a foreign country, making new friends and appreciating other cultures can bring life-changing impact to young people – both academically and personally. As in previous years, CLASS collaborates with a list of prominent institutions to offer the Cultural and Language Immersion (CALI) and Overseas Summer Schools this summer. Both programmes are open for application from now until 3 March 2022.

For Year 1 to 3 students who are seeking to improve their English language competence, they can join a four-week CALI programme offered by the Hertford College of the University of Oxford. They will take courses in the four skills of reading, writing, listening, and speaking. Besides these structured classes, students will also be engaged in community or research projects that involve contact with the local community, under the supervision of staff from partner universities. During the spare time, students may pay visits to places of interest and participate in cultural events to experience authentic cultural aspects of the UK.

Partnered with Boston University and University of California at Berkeley in the US, University of Sussex and University of Cambridge in the UK, University of Vienna in Austria, and the University of British Columbia in Canada, the Overseas Summer Schools programme aims at providing CLASS students an opportunity to widen their cultural horizons while studying at these overseas partner institutions. Students will enrol in courses offered by the admitted institution in accordance with their interests and academic backgrounds. As for accommodation, they will stay on campus or with a host family during the four to six weeks overseas out of Hong Kong. Students will also earn up to six transferable academic credit units subject to Programme/Major and Course Leaders’ approval.
