CITY CLASS Issue I - Online version available
I am delighted to announce that the online version of the first Issue of CITY CLASS is available now at http://www.cityu.edu.hk/class/magazine/default.aspx. The hard copy and the online version of Issue II will be launched soon.

CITY CLASS is a chronicle of events in the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences (CLASS). It reflects the spirit of the college, and it serves as the communicative platform for our departments, staff and students as well as the public to understand our work and achievements.

For many years, Hong Kong people have shown high levels of morality and integrity, which are very much connected to the teaching, research and knowledge transfer by scholars in the humanities and social sciences to Hong Kong society. I would like to present to you the outstanding contribution of CLASS in enriching the humanities in Hong Kong.

The debut issue of the College magazine features the Department of Media and Communication which is named the best of its discipline in Hong Kong according to the results of the Research Assessment Exercise (RAE) 2014.

Two educators from the Department of Applied Social Sciences have been awarded in succession with the UGC Teaching Award. Both awardees have selflessly spent their award money on extending and developing inter-university campaigns to benefit more university students and facilitate cross-institutional collaborations.

Discovery and Innovation are core to the curricula of all levels at CityU. CLASS hosted its first DEC Competition to enhance students’ ability to innovate and to practice professionalism. Share the joyful moments at the awards ceremony with our six groups of awardees.

The coming issue will be published in February 2016. In a recent forum about the 13th Five-Year Plan, Professor Way Kuo, CityU President, had addressed the importance of enhancing cooperation between Hong Kong and Macau. We are planning to feature the significant funded research and teaching projects of CLASS in the two cities in the forthcoming issue.

I hope you enjoy the first issue of our Magazine. If you have any suggestions or new ideas for CITY CLASS, please do not hesitate to contact the College publicity team through choffpub@cityu.edu.hk.
