The French and Spanish Section of the Division of Language Studies is Hong Kong's first officially approved centre to hold examinations for the Diploma in Spanish as a Foreign Language.
Over 450 Form 7 students flocked to IT workshops offered by CityU's Division of Computer Studies, from 20 July to 8 August, 2004. They gained hands-on experience working with programmes such as Java.

CityU's College of Higher Vocational Studies signed a collaborative agreement with Coventry University in the UK on 9 February to launch a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Business Information Technology. A technology-driven customer relationship management (CRM) laboratory was launched by City University's Division of Commerce on 29 April. NEC Hong Kong Limited donated equipment and software and will provide technical support. Five enterprises signed an agreement of sponsorship with the College of Higher Vocational Studies on April 12. They would offer sponsorship of teaching software, project consultancy, staff training as well as possible student employment to the College's Division of Commerce by the agreement.
Creativity and a keen interest in the deep cultural traditions of Europe have earned prizes for two CityU students at the University's First Web Contest on Europe.
CityU's College of Higher Vocational Studies and the University of Hull, UK, agreed on 20 November, to promote greater cooperation and work towards an agreement that the latter would accept qualified College students into selected undergraduate programmes at advanced standing.
