Professor Way Kuo, President of CityU gave the opening speech at the annual European Safety and Reliability conference in Troyes, France.
The President delivered a talk entitled “Is Nuclear Safety Reliable?” to around 800 faculty and students at the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China on 2 September.
CityU has risen to 110th in the 2011 world university rankings according to the latest league tables published by Quacquarelli Symonds.
The President delivered a wide-ranging topical talk on the reliability and survivability of nuclear energy and the future of energy at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre on 30 August.
CityU moved up three places to rank 15th among the top Asian universities, according to the 2010 Asian University Rankings published by QS.
"To maintain Hong Kong’s uniqueness and competitiveness, we must invest in scientific research and encourage creativity," said Professor Way Kuo, University President, addressing over 300 secondary and tertiary students at a forum held on 11 May.
Distinguished speakers with outstanding achievements attended a CityU seminar on 8 May to share their views with senior secondary students on how teenagers can maintain the momentum in their lives in face of constant challenges.
