CityU Council Member and Chairman of the Executive Board of Esprit, Mr Michael Ying shared his life and career experiences with over 200 staff and students in the Reading/Seminar Room of the Run Run Shaw Library, 26 April.
Students, staff and alumni have expressed their deep concerns about Council Chairman Sir Gordon Wu's remarks in Ming Pao on 3 March,and reiterated their support for CityU’s direction.
At a Council meeting on 14 April, lengthy discussions including the University’s role were held. At the end of the meeting, Council Chairman Sir Gordon Wu was convinced and agreed that CityU has indeed adhered to its role.
Professor H K Chang and Professor Edmond Ko, President and then Vice-President (Undergraduate Education), respectively, opened a dialogue with over 20 secondary school principals and career masters on the unique education philosophy and experience at CityU.
At the Senate meeting on 15 March, Professor H K Chang, President, reiterated that CityU has been developing in line with the role statement it received from the University Grants Committee in January 2004.
