Start of Summer Term 2026

1. Arrangements to Canvas courses for Summer Term 2026

We have created Canvas courses for all credit bearing courses. CityUHK's Canvas is located at https://canvas.cityu.edu.hk.

If you need to add a teaching assistant or other users to your Canvas course, check out the steps on How to add users to your Canvas course.

2. How to use Canvas

For information on the functions and operations of Canvas, you can refer to the Canvas Instructor Guide by Instructure.

To build your course site(s) from scratch, you may upload contents from your computer. For details, please view our guides below.

To reuse contents from your previous Canvas course, please use the Import Existing Content function in the sidebar on the course homepage. (Canvas Basic Guide: What is the Course Import Tool?)

All new Canvas courses have the updated settings on Grade Posting Policy, Grading Scheme and updated Course Navigation. (see Default settings of new Canvas courses)

You can use the Course Accessibility Checker to design the course while considering accessibility attributes. Currently, it can scan Pages and descriptions/instructions of Assignments in a Canvas course.

3. PUBLISH your Canvas course to your students

Make sure your Canvas course is published when you want to release it to your students. To do so, enter your course on Canvas and click Publish in the sidebar. For more information, go to How do I publish my course. Unless the Canvas course is published, it will not be visible to your students.

4. Reminder: End of Semester B 2025/26 - Arrangements for Semester B Canvas courses

Starting Sunday, 7 June 2026, Semester B 2025/26 Canvas courses will become read-only. They can be seen under "Past Enrollments" after clicking "All Courses" under the Courses menu for all users.
