Duties
The appointee will contribute to the advancement of functional additives and polymers through organic and polymer synthesis, focusing on applications in plastic alloys, polymer processing, and sensor technologies. Key responsibilities include:
Designing, synthesizing, purifying, and modifying additives and polymers for specific target applications;
Characterizing material properties using techniques such as NMR, FT-IR, DSC, TGA, and GPC;
Applying developed additives and polymers in plastic alloy formulations and recycled plastics to achieve desired functional and performance outcomes;
Preparing project-related documentation, including progress reports, meeting presentations, standard operating procedures (SOPs), intellectual property (IP) documents, and literature reviews; and
Performing additional duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Requirements
PhD in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Polymer Science / Engineering, Material Science / Engineering or related disciplines;
Knowhow or experience in the below areas will be an advantage:
Experience in organic synthesis and characterization;
Experience in polymerization and polymer characterization;
Experience in radical polymerization/copolymerization;
Experience in pad printing process;
Experience in plastic processing/recycling related industries.
Strong quantitative analytical skills with attention to detail, good at record keeping and documentation;
Able to work independently and collaborate with the team;
Positive, analytical, critical thinking and good troubleshooting skill;
Have a sense of ownership for his/her work, good interpersonal and communication skills; and
Good command of spoken and written English and Chinese, articulate report writing and presentation skills, as well as abilities in literature/patent search.
Candidates with less experience will be considered as Engineers.
