Students from the College of Science and College of Engineering recently visited two industry partners—BIEL Crystal on 6 February and Ka Shui Group on 6 March 2026—to bridge academic learning with real-world practice and explore career pathways within the Guangdong–Hong Kong–Macao Greater Bay Area.

The visits gave students a first‑hand insight into the company’s daily operations and working culture, including guided tours of production facilities and the workplace. Participants met with senior management to discuss the company’s future plans, latest technologies and design developments. Overall, the visits provided a valuable, practical learning opportunity.

A highlight at Ka Shui Group was meeting a PhD alumnus from the Department of Chemistry, Dr. Larry Lo, who now manages the company’s testing laboratory. He shared with students his transition from doctoral research to industry leadership and offered practical advice on translating research skills into industry‑ready competencies.

The College of Science will continue to strengthen ties with industry, particularly in the Greater Bay Area, through company visits, internship programmes, and joint research.
