A new addition to the City University of Hong Kong Press—Building Design and Development in Hong Kong—was launched at CityU on 29 January.
City University's third annual WebCourse Fair 2003 kicked off on 14 January with a virtual exhibition showcasing the use of the Internet for teaching and learning. Around 30 teaching staff members shared online how they make use of audio-visual learning packages, online quizzes, self-assessment tools and 3D animations to stimulate students' interest.
Because of the outbreak of SARS, also known as atypical pneumonia, City University, together with its seven local counterparts, suspended classes for two weeks, from 29 March to 13 April. More than 300 audience and performers danced to the rhythm of the Latin American beat at the University Circle, as the World City Cultural Night extravaganza drew to its finale. Held on 9 March in the Wei Hing Theatre, the extravaganza brought into the limelight an array of multi-cultural performances such as Scottish bagpipes, Australian songs, Indian dance, American jazz, Chinese music, English folkdance, Latin salsa and African drums, all under the theme of "Love and Harmony".
