CityU and the State Language Commission signed the second collaborative agreement, on 13 June, for the University to continue to administer the National Putonghua Proficiency Test, which will be expanded to encompass the whole of Hong Kong.
CityU has responded to the growing demand for Putonghua-speaking professionals in Hong Kong by signing an agreement with the State Language Commission of China to set up a new Putonghua Training and Assessment Centre on campus.

CityU's College of Higher Vocational Studies signed a collaborative agreement with Coventry University in the UK on 9 February to launch a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Business Information Technology. It is the first full-time top-up degree programme in IT and e-commerce related fields jointly put forth by the College's Division of Computer Studies and an overseas institution.
