FSE showcases nearly 100 creative student projects

The Faculty of Science and Engineering (FSE) is holding a 3-day exhibition on campus from today to 27 May to showcase nearly 100 student projects from its eight departments. The creativity and practicability of the projects are examples of CityU’s efforts and success in promoting applied research.

 

The exhibition gives secondary students and the public a glimpse of what science and engineering students learn and do. Representatives introduce visitors to each department’s strengths and areas of learning. Tours are arranged to give secondary students more in-depth information on FSE’s programmes. Nearly 100 secondary students joined tours today and showed deep interest in the exhibition. Many said it helps them in the selection of study areas in future.

 

The projects on display are by undergraduate and postgraduate students from the Departments of Biology and Chemistry; Building and Construction; Computer Engineering and Information Technology; Computer Science; Electronic Engineering; Manufacturing Engineering and Engineering Management; Mathematics; and Physics and Materials Science. Highlights include a humanoid robot, eWallet signature and Value at Risk (VaR) Model for banks.

 

Professor C H Chan, Dean of FSE, is pleased with the efforts staff and students have put into promoting local science education and sharing FSE’s education experience with secondary students so as to arouse interest in studying science and engineering related subjects.
