Professor Chun Kit Kwok, Associate Dean (Outreach and Internationalisation) of the College of Science (CSCI) and Professor from the Department of Chemistry, was named a Fellow Member of the prestigious Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC) in July 2026. Congratulations!

Fellow membership is the highest professional award of the Royal Society of Chemistry, recognising outstanding contributions to the chemical sciences. Professor Kwok’s current research focus is to explore the roles of RNA structures and interactions in biology, especially the functions of G-quadruplex structures/interactions in diverse classes of RNAs, as well as characterising their formation, dynamics, interactions, and functions in different species and their relevance to gene regulation, RNA metabolism and diseases.

With 175 years of history and over 54,000 members worldwide, the Royal Society of Chemistry is the oldest chemical society in the world. It is worth noting that the “Comprehensive Chemistry” stream under the Chemistry undergraduate programme offered by the Department of Chemistry is accredited by the Royal Society of Chemistry.
