CityUHK JUPAS Consultation Day 2026 was successfully held on 16 May. Looking for the most updated admission information, nearly 400 participants including DSE students and their parents, visited the College of Science (CSCI)’s booths. Many of them also attended admission talks hosted by programme leaders of our Undergraduate courses.
In the four CSCI programme admission talks, Programme Leaders and Admission Tutors introduced their respective JUPAS programmes and answered enquiries about the latest admission scores, interview tips, JUPAS banding strategies, career prospects and the attractive entrance scholarships. The most up-to-date information on internships and overseas student exchange opportunities was also shared by current students and graduates with DSE students and their parents.
This year, the Department of Chemistry arranged a new guided laboratory workshop: “The Secret of Fluorescence”. Professor Stephen Fu from the department briefly introduced the course structure of the Chemistry UG course, and then revealed the science behind why some materials absorb light and emit vibrant colours, from glow sticks to medical imaging. Participants had the chance to explore fluorescence with a UV (ultraviolet) torch in everyday objects, including vitamins and olive oil. Participants even had the precious hands-on experience of mixing a tube of fluorescent agent under Professor Fu’s guidance. All of them had fun mixing their fluorescent agent with other groups, which could emit different colours.
