The College of Science (CSCI) proudly supported two inspiring STEM competitions this year to engage secondary school students from Hong Kong and Macau through hands-on learning and innovation.

The Aerosim Inter-school Aviation Tournament (AIAT) 2025 Glider Launch Challenge was held in April at the CityUHK Runway, attracting nearly 120 students and teachers from secondary schools in Hong Kong and Macau to participate. Organised by Aerosim (HK) Ltd in collaboration with strategic partners and CSCI, the challenge provided students with a unique opportunity to explore scientific principles - such as aerodynamics and physics - through the design and launch of gliders. This event marked the opening of the Aerosim Inter-school Aviation Tournament (AIAT) 2025, which aims to inspire and equip the next generation of aviation professionals by building a global community of skilled, like-minded students.

On 19 July, the AIAT 2025 graduation ceremony was held at the Grand Hall of Hong Kong Science and Technology Park, alongside the Innovate and Lead –The New Wave Logistics Competition.

Organised by the Hong Kong Association of Freight Forwarding and Logistics (HAFFA) and funded by the Transport and Logistics Bureau (TLB), the Innovate and Lead – The New Wave Logistics Competition brought together 40 secondary school teams to propose innovative solutions for the logistics industry. Representing CSCI, Professor Zhuang Xiaosheng from the Department of Mathematics and three students from CSCI’s Flagship Programme Global Research Enrichment and Technopreneurship (GREAT) served as judges, contributing their academic insight in supporting youth innovation.

CSCI is proud to play an active role in these meaningful initiatives that promote interdisciplinary learning and inspire the next generation of science and technology leaders. These competitions not only provided a platform for students to showcase their skills and knowledge but also fostered a spirit of innovation and collaboration among them.
