A delegation led by Professor Xin Wang, Dean of the College of Science (CSCI), embarked on a significant and inaugural visit to Brazil in November 2025, aimed at strengthening international collaborations and fostering academic exchanges with universities in Brazil.
The Dean’s delegation team comprised faculty members: Professor Denver Li, CSCI Associate Dean (Research and Postgraduate Education); Professor Maria Babak, CSCI Global Outreach Coordinator; and Professor Xiaosheng Zhuang, CSCI Undergraduate Outreach Coordinator. The purpose of the trip was to explore joint academic programmes, student exchange and research collaboration opportunities, as well as to promote postgraduate programmes of the College of Science. “Postgraduate Study in Hong Kong” information sessions were delivered to the potential students of the visited institutions.
The delegation visited four leading institutions in Brazil: Universidade de São Paulo (USP), Universidade Estadual de Campinas (Unicamp), Universidade Estadual Paulista (UNESP), and Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ). At Unicamp, both parties officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and Student Exchange Agreement, paving the way for student mobility and joint research initiatives between CSCI and Unicamp.
This debut visit to South America marks a crucial step in enhancing academic partnerships and exchanging knowledge between CSCI and Brazilian universities, fostering academic exchange, innovation and research in both regions.
