CSCI Community Members on HKSAR Honours List 2025

Three College of Science (CSCI) community members have been recognised on the prestigious Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Honours List 2025 for their outstanding contributions to Hong Kong and their dedicated public and community service.

CSCI’s newly appointed Associate Dean (Outreach and Internationalisation) and Chair Professor of Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry from the Department of Chemistry, Professor Kenneth Leung, is awarded the Bronze Bauhinia Star (BBS) for his long and dedicated track record of serving in advisory bodies. His expertise in aquatic ecology and environmental toxicology has been instrumental in assisting the Advisory Council on the Environment in coming up with balanced recommendations on the assessment of numerous complicated projects to strike a balance between development needs and environmental protection.

Professor Anderson Shum, Vice-President (Research) of CityUHK and Chair Professor of Chemical and Biomedical Engineering in the Department of Biomedical Engineering and Department of Chemistry is awarded the Medal of Honour (MH) in recognition of his contributions to several government boards and committees, particularly in the promotion of the innovation and technology development in Hong Kong.

Moreover, Dr. Steve Chuang, Chairman of the Federation of Hong Kong Industries (FHKI) and a mentor of CSCI’s Flagship Programme Global Research Enrichment and Technopreneurship (GREAT), has been appointed a Justice of the Peace (JP).
